National University Launches Free Two-Day Eye Care Camp
News Bulletin: National University Launches Free Two-Day Eye Care Camp
Gazipur, August 26, 2025 — The National University has introduced a new health initiative aimed at protecting the vision of its teachers, officers, and staff members. A two-day free eye care camp began today inside the University’s Medical Building, drawing a large number of participants eager to receive check-ups and medical advice.
The program was formally inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah, who highlighted the importance of workplace health. In his opening remarks, he noted that efficiency in academic and administrative work is closely linked to physical well-being. “Good eyesight is fundamental to a productive life,” he remarked, emphasizing the university’s plan to expand similar health-focused activities in the future.
Services Provided at the Camp
The camp is being run in collaboration with specialists from Dhaka Eye Care Hospital alongside the University’s own Medical Services Department. Throughout the day, patients underwent vision screening, eye pressure tests, and detailed consultations with ophthalmologists. Common concerns such as cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disorders, and eye strain were addressed. For cases requiring advanced treatment, doctors provided referrals and explained the next steps for follow-up care.
Participants expressed relief at receiving expert medical advice without having to travel outside the campus. For many staff members who spend long hours working on computers, the opportunity to get their eyes checked at no cost was described as both convenient and necessary.
Attendance and Future Plans
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Treasurer Professor Dr. ATM Zafrul Azam, faculty members, senior officials, and university employees. Organizers reported a strong turnout on the first day, with registration continuing throughout the morning.
To accommodate those unable to attend today, the camp will resume on September 2, 2025, ensuring that more members of the university community can take advantage of the free services.
A Step Toward Campus Wellness
Beyond immediate treatment, the program underscores the university’s broader commitment to health and wellness. By offering preventive care and early diagnosis directly on campus, the institution is helping its academic community reduce long-term risks while fostering a healthier work environment.
